The DeWitt Referral Center meets the needs of people experiencing financial hardship in the Central DeWitt Community School District in Clinton County, Iowa. In partnership with churches and other community organizations, we provide food, emergency assistance, referral services, crisis assistance, and a thrift shop.

Iowa’s Tax Free Weekend is this Friday and Saturday, August 5th and 6th. If you are out shopping, please consider picking up some extra school supplies to donate to our annual School Supply Drive. We are kicking off our annual SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE!! These are the items that are most needed to get area students prepared for the upcoming school year. Donations may be dropped off at the Referral Center OR in our collection bins during business hours at the following locations in DeWitt: IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union, DeWitt Randy’s Neighborhood Market, Scott Drug Store, The Observer - DeWitt, Iowa, First Central State Bank, DeWitt Bank & Trust Co.; and these locations in Grand Mound: First Trust and Savings Bank and Legacy Insurance Group. If you need to drop off donations after hours, please call DeWitt Referral Center & Thrift Store to make an appointment with one of our staff members. About Us
Organized in 1974 to provide meals to the elderly, Concerned DeWitt Citizens created a senior drop-in center that eventually became the DeWitt Referral Center. Today, the Center provides emergency assistance, food, and referral services to residents of the Central DeWitt Community School District. We also operate a thrift store and donation center that are open to the public.

The DeWitt Referral Center provides food: The Center has provided almost 1,000 boxes food, almost 1,500 bread sacks, almost 1,500 bread sacks, 575 gallons of milk, 150 Thanksgiving meals, more than 160 holiday food boxes, and almost 600 summer lunch kits in a single year!
The DeWitt Referral Center provides clothes: In a single year, the Center has provided 90 children with school clothes and given out almost 400 winter coats, hats, scarves, mittens, etc. We also operate a thrift store that’s open to the general public!

The Dewitt Referral Center provides food and other assistance to residents of the DeWitt Community School District in Clinton County, Iowa, who are experiencing financial hardship. In order to receive assistance, you will need to provide:
Proof of Residency: A current receipt for your rent, or a current utility bill, that includes your name an address.
Proof of Income: Current pay stubs of all working household members.
Proof of Identity: A current photo ID (such as a driver’s license).
The DeWitt Referral Center provides emergency assistance: In a single year, we provided more than 70 gas fill-ups and auto repairs, more than 50 rental and house payments, and more than 40 instances of prescription and medical assistance!
The DeWitt Referral Center helps children: We gave almost 160 children school supplies, gave more than 80 kids diapers and formula, gave out more than 225 children’s Christmas gifts, and helped with 14 swim passes in just one year!
